There is some current funding available through the SC Office of Rural Health for the current funding year (August 2011-July 2012)as well as the next cycle (August 2012-July 2013). The selection process is mainly based on your zip code, (whether you live in a rural area) and if you will be providing care to those in rural areas.
The current year has mainly funding for the I-85 to AEMT and AEMT courses. You may apply for this funding even if you are currently enrolled in a class.
In order to begin to qualify, you must complete the application at the following link:
Once you apply, if you are approved, the funds will be sent to the Region and credited to you. If you are applying for a course that has not started yet you must be registered for the course.
Funding amounts can vary depending on the number of applications but are generally in the range of:
EMT $250.00
AEMT $500.00
Paramedic $750.00- $1,000.00
I-85 to AEMT transition is currently being fully funded, $750.00 but this is dependent on how many applications are received.
Remember these are competitive funds. Just applying does NOT guarantee award of funds. One thing for certain, if you don’t apply you certainly won’t receive them.
